This is a panoramic shot of Batterville / Carazo. All the trenches are still there. It's on top of a hill, so you have to hike up a bit. I parked the car on a farm site, took the liberty of opening a gate in a fence, and then went up.
In the footsteps of Sergio Leone

This picture set shows Blondie and Angel Eyes arriving in Peralta in GBU. This "western town" used to be located in Dehesa de Navalvillar, which today is somewhat of a gated nature park in which cattle can roam freely. It is closed for cars but you go in on foot and by car. The scene is recognizable by the characteristic mountain backdrop. Peralta (and White Rocks from FDM for that matter) are longer in existence, although a pile of rubble and some fencing can still be found quite close to the main entrance ofthe park, which is next to an Air Force helicopter base.
This picture set shows the monastery near covarrubius, that was used to shoot the interior sequence of the monastery where Blondie recovers in GBU after walking through the desert. The exterior was filmed at Cortijo Del Fraille in Almera. The actual monastery on the banks of the Rio Arlanza, near the site where the battle of langstone bridge was filmed, is in ruins these days, with an actual guard making sure nobody does any extra harm to the place. The guard actually knew that GBU was filmed here and told of how the long barn across the street was also used for interior shots in GBU,where may wounded soldiers lie side by side. A picture set of this will be posted too.
This is a panoramic shot of the Rio Arlanza river area where GBU's Battle of Langstone bridge was filmed. The mountain backdrop, the road, th river, it's all quite easy to spot. But you have to go way up the hill to the side of the road to find most locations. The road itself is in the movie too: it was a dirt toad then. The langstone bridge used to start about 50m further up the road from where you can spot the car. A traffic sign kinda marks the spot.
This picture set depicts a scene from GBU, that takes places near Covarrubias in Spain, near the Rio Arlanza river. The scene is the battle of Langstone Bridge. There's a lot more vegetation now then in those days, but the place is perfectly recognizable. The bridge is no longer there of course. I had to climb way up the side of the road to find all the locations. Also a great place to visit!
